Mandatory Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme Seminars

WSD implemented the voluntary Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme (WELS) in 2009 to help consumers make better product choices for water conservation. On 1 February 2017, WSD took a step forward to launch the requirements for mandatory use of devices registered under the WELS. According to the requirements, for proposed plumbing works for designated areas in all premises, showers for bathing, water taps and urinal flushing valves registered under the WELS should be used unless exemption is granted under special circumstances.

To promote stakeholders’ and applicants’ understanding of the related measure, WSD held two seminars, respectively on 23 February and 6 March in 2017, to maintain close contact with the participants and answer their queries about the above measure.
