Simplified e-Bill Service Launching Ceremony cum World Water Monitoring Challenge 2014

In order to introduce the message of indispensible relationship between water conservation and environmental protection, the "Simplified e-Bill Service cum World Water Monitoring Challenge 2014" was held at Ma On Shan Water Treatment Works on 20 December 2014. By enhancing the e-Bill Service to promote reduction of paper consumption, thereby minimizing water and electricity consumption and waste water generation during the process of paper production. The launching ceremony was successfully officiated by the Director of Water Supplies, Mr Enoch Lam, as well as 14 representatives from the Advisory Committee on Water Resources and Quality of Water Supplies (ACRQWS), the International Water Association (IWA) and other organizations etc.

The World Water Monitoring Challenge 2014 was held at the same venue. The event aims to raise students' awareness of protecting water resources, 50 students from four secondary schools were invited to carry out tests of the raw water quality of Ma On Shan Water Treatment Works by measuring four key indicators: temperature, acidity, dissolved oxygen and turbidity. The activity is part of an international education and outreach programme which aims to build public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources.
