To enhance drinking water safety in buildings' inside service, the WSD has introduced the WSP for Buildings for building owners and property management agencies to develop WSPs that help to protect drinking water quality within their buildings' inside service.

The WSD has established a Task Group on Water Safety in Buildings (TGWSB) comprising stakeholders of the water supply from building services, property management, plumbing supplies, etc. to advise on aspects related to water safety in buildings.

In addition, the WSD has developed the "Guidelines for WSPs for Buildings in Hong Kong" for building owners or building management offices to develop their own WSPs. The guideline document includes template and checklist for adoption:
