If there is a problem with your
water supply, you may call the 24-hour
WSD Enquiry Hotline for assistance. The following
are some common causes of supply problem which you may
check quickly yourself or with the building caretaker
before calling us :
No Supply or Weak Supply
might be due to :
- Main control valve serving
the building or stopcock before water meter not fully
opened. In this case, you can ask the building caretaker
of the location of the meters and open the main control
valve accordingly.
- Water meter having been removed
due to non-payment of water bills or non-compliance
with Notice to Repair Inside Service. You should settle
the outstanding water charges or undertake the necessary
repair works as appropriate, and then inform us for arranging reconnection of water supply.
- Leakage or other defects in internal
plumbing system. You should employ a licensed plumber
to rectify the leaks or other identified defects of
the water pipes.
Poor Water Quality
might be due to :
- Dirty roof tank and/or sump
tank in the building. The roof tank and/or sump tank
should be cleansed.
- Rust in internal plumbing, especially
if water has not been used for some time. Try leaving
the water running for a few seconds.
In case of no supply, you should also check with your
neighbours and the building caretaker to see if it is
a common problem. They might have already found out
the cause of the problem. If defects are suspected in
the internal plumbing system of your premises, you should
arrange with a licensed
plumber to carry out a more detailed inspection.
Please remember, as the registered consumer you are
responsible for the maintenance of the internal plumbing
serving your premises.
By checking the above first, you might
in many cases resolve your problem right away. Otherwise,
it will be helpful to provide us with more specific
details about your complaint so that our staff can attend
to your problem more quickly and efficiently.
