Ceremony for Launching of Water Conservation Design Competition cum World Water Monitoring Day 2010

WSD launched a water conservation design competition on the World Water Monitoring Day (WWMD) 18 September 2010, calling for creative designs from students of tertiary education institutes and good practices from the property management sector and catering services industry. Mrs. Carrie LAM, Secretary for Development, and Professor HO Kin Chung, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on the Quality of Water Supplies, officiated at the ceremony for launching the competition and celebrating WWMD 2010 at Tai Lam Chung Reservoir in Tuen Mun. Mrs. LAM said the Government had spared no effort in disseminating the water conservation message through various channels.

Also celebrating the event were 100 secondary school students who performed a series of simple scientific tests on the water quality of Tai Lam Chung Reservoir to mark World Water Monitoring Day 2010, which is an annual event organised by the Hong Kong (China) Regional Committee of the International Water Association with the objective of enhancing the awareness and involvement of the community in protecting water quality.

Around 50 newly appointed Water Conservation Ambassadors from various primary schools were invited to serve as reporters for the day. Here are some articles and drawings from the ambassadors:
