The Quality Water Recognition Scheme for Buildings (QWRSB) Certificate Presentation Ceremony 2009

The Quality Water Recognition Scheme for Buildings (QWRSB) Certificate Presentation Ceremony 2009 was held on 25 August 2009 at Regal Riverside Hotel in Sha Tin. Over 2,700 certificates were awarded to property owners, owners' corporations, property management companies, and management agents of hospitals, hotels, schools, universities and public institutions to recognize their efforts in proper maintenance of their fresh water plumbing systems. The total number of buildings awarded with gold and silver certificates has significantly increased from 500 last year to more than 800 this year.

Director of Water Supplies, Mr. MA Lee Tak advised that the department would soon launch a voluntary "Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme" (WELS) to help consumers choose water saving devices. He appealed to awardees to support the scheme. Officiating at the ceremony, Professor HO Kin Chung, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on the Quality of Water Supplies, said joining the QWRSB to enhance maintenance of fresh water plumbing systems would also conserve water as water wastage due to leakage was prevented.
