Presentation Ceremony for Water Conservation Ambassador 2013/14

Water Supplies Department (WSD) held the Certificate Presentation Ceremony for Water Conservation Ambassadors 2013/14 on 11 July 2014 at the Y-Theatre of Youth Square, Chai Wan. This year, more than 4,500 students from 35 primary schools participated in the scheme and 523 students were appointed as ambassadors. Lists of awardees are as follows:

Attending the ceremony included: the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Water Resources and Quality of Water Supplies (ACRQWS), Dr Chan Hon-fai; Chairperson of the Working Group on Public Education of ACRQWS, Ms Tong Po-chun; Chairperson of the Working Group on Publications of Water Quality Data of ACRQWS, Dr Richard Cheung; and Chairperson of the Working Group on Quality of Water in Buildings of ACRQWS, Mr Ivan Lau. Led by Dr Chan, the new ambassadors pledged to take up the role and protect the precious water resources.

The WSD has been running the "Water Conservation Starts from Home" promotional campaign in all primary schools since the 2008/09 school year to encourage youngsters to treasure water resources, and the Water Conservation Ambassadors Selection Scheme is the highlight of the campaign. The ambassadors are selected based on the number of household members and data collected from participants on their average daily domestic water consumption. Around 2,800 certificates have been presented over the years.
