Presentation Ceremony for Water Conservation Ambassador 2012/13

Water Supplies Department (WSD) held the Certificate Presentation Ceremony for Water Conservation Ambassadors 2012/13 on 9 July 2013 at the Auditorium of Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre. This year, about 3,600 students from 31 primary schools participated in the scheme and 616 students were appointed as ambassadors, which made record-high in terms of the number and percentage of ambassadors selected. This significantly indicated that students had growing awareness on water saving in their daily life. To date, the total number of Water Conservation Ambassadors has accumulated to over 2,200 students. Lists of awardees are as follows:

Attending the ceremony included: the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Water Resources and Quality of Water Supplies (ACRQWS), Dr Chan Hon-fai; Chairperson of the Working Group on Public Education of ACRQWS, Ms Nicole Wong; Chairperson of the Working Group on Publications of Water Quality Data of ACRQWS, Dr Richard Cheung; and Chairperson of the Working Group on Quality of Water in Buildings of ACRQWS, Mr Ivan Lau. Together with the guests, the Director of Water Supplies, Mr Ma Lee-tak, presented certificates to the ambassadors and participating schools to commend their collaboration in protecting our planet's water resources. Led by Dr Chan, the new ambassadors pledged to take up the role and protect the precious water resources.

Congratulations to all ambassadors and heartfelt thanks to the participating schools for their support. For enquires, please contact our Public Relations Unit at 2829 4559 or 2829 5850.

Since 2009, the Water Supplies Department (WSD) invited all primary schools to join the "Water Conservation Ambassador Selection Scheme". Through analysing the domestic fresh water consumption data submitted by the participating students, such as the number of household members and fresh water consumption amount, WSD would appoint students who showed good performance as Water Conservation Ambassadors.
